Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – In the first half of the year, M&A transactions worth EUR 843m where concluded, or 16 percent more than last year, the report published by PMR company said. The value of an average transaction was 19 percent higher than a year ago and amounted to EUR 15.3m.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – In the first half of the year, M&A transactions worth EUR 843m where concluded, or 16 percent more than last year, the report published by PMR company said. The value of an average transaction was 19 percent higher than a year ago and amounted to EUR 15.3m. One of the biggest transactions was the acquisition made by Societe Generale which bought 100 percent of Eurobank for EUR 185m. The sectors which drew most M&A included: industry (EUR 250m), banking and finance (EUR 194m), and IT (133m).

In the first half of the year, Polish companies bought several foreign firms, including German Hoesch (EUR 20m), or Kuag Oberbruch. “In the second half of the year, the value and number of M&A in Poland will be at similar level. However, one big transaction, may change the data significantly”, Rafal Sieradzki, PMR analyst commented. The merger of Pekao and Bank BPH may be such transaction. “Romania and Bulgaria may be the most attractive acquisition markets for Polish companies. Similarly Ukraine after the revolution”, Rafal Sieradzki added.Poland/Economy/M&A
