Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – TP says that it has signed agreement with all trade unions providing for nearly 6,000 employees taking voluntary redundancies within 3 years. However, not all unions have agreed to that.

The management of Telekomunikacja Polska (TP) held talks during the weekend with trade unions concerning their contract in the years 2007-2009. TP proposed that up to 5,700 people take a redundancy leave.

“Detailed employment plans will depend on the needs and on how much the employees are interested in this offer. First of all they will depend on our client’s interest and the services offered by TP”, Jacek Kallaur, the member of TP board said.

TP believes that the majority of trade unions have signed the document. There are exceptions, however.

“Solidarnosc” will make its decision today.

“The program provides for voluntary redundancies but every time TP reduced employment in the past, they talked about voluntary redundancies. Then, the employees had an alternative: either to leave and get a compensation or be fired without any compensation”, Elzbieta Pacula, the head of “Solidarnosc” commented.

Employees who have worked over 20 years in TP, may get up to PLN 50,000 (EUR 13,100).

“I’m not impressed because TP is a rich company. We see many problems in the document”, Slawomir Basinski from “Porozumienie” trade union added.

TP hopes to conclude talks with trade unions this week.

At the end of the third quarter, TP had 27,400 employees.
