Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) In the first two weeks after it was launched, Nowy Dzien, the daily published by Agora media group, was sold in 210,000 copies on average. This is 15 percent below the company¹s expectations.

It is even more important that the difference in copies sold differs from 125,000 to 340,000 copies when a CD of Budka Suflera pop group was added to the paper, Rafal Oracz from CR Media commented.

Agora said it would spend PLN 25-30m (EUR 6.5-7.8m) for promotion and marketing in the fourth quarter of this year. The media group is still sure it would reach planned level of issue sold.

It may take some time. You mustn¹t forget that we are launching certain activities one by one, Beata Kruczek, Agora spokesperson said.

Analysts believe that the main problem with the new daily is that it lacks expression.

The results disappoint but I¹m not surprised with them. I don¹t believe in this project. I¹m sure it is going to evolve to become more tabloid, Rafal Oracz added.

Two other companies were planning to launch their dailies: Axel Springer and the publisher of Zycie Warszawy.
