AmRest restaurant operator to grow by 20 times

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – AmRest wants to operate 5,000 restaurants in Central and Eastern Europe.

AmRest, the listed restaurant operator managing, among others, Pizza Hut or KFC, wants to become Central European leader. Till the end of 2009, the company wants to triple its sales which last year amounted to PLN 629m (EUR 164.8m).

“We want to fasten the growth pace and launch 100 new restaurants annually”, Henry McGovern, AmRest co-founder and CEO said.

The company will invest PLN 250m every year.

The CEO believes that AmRest could grow by over 20 times and have 5,000 restaurants up from 243 today. AmRest has recently added Burger King and Starbucks to its brands. The first Starbucks restaurants will be launched in Poland within 18 months. Next to its present brands, including Pizza Hut, KFC, Burger King, Starbucks, Rodeo Drive, Freshpoint, AmRest is going to introduce new ones and acquire further companies. AmRest operates in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. This year it will launch operations in Bulgaria and Russia. PLN 41m of AmRest shares changed hands yesterday. The stock grew nearly 3 percent.
