Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Polish companies have not had spectacular successes in exporting to Asian markets but they keep fighting for them.

Korean and Japan markets opened to Polish pork nearly a year ago.

“Polish companies cannot boast with spectacular successes yet but every ton of meat sold there means taking the market from the rivals”, Witold Choinski, the CEO of the Polish Association of Meat Producers, Exporters and Importers, said.

This is true especially for Japan.

“We export there frozen meat prepared exactly as the importer wants. The first articles were sold in August. We will make an initial plan of sales when we know the expectations of the clients and potential demand”, Andrzej Pawelczak from Animex said.

2.5m tons of pork are used in Japan every year. The biggest companies from Denmark, USA and Canada are present there.

PKM Duda is also checking this market.

Both firms are present in Korea as well. However, the true expansion will start when the Chinese market is opened. In the last three years, exports of Polish meat to Asian countries rose by 5 times from 5,000 tons in 2003 to over 24,000 tons in 2005.
