Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Byd-Meat, Poland’s meat producer, which nearly went bankrupt last year, is going to build a new plant, which will fulfil all EU rules. ‘The construction works should start at the end of April. The new slaughterhouse and plant will have similar capacity to the old plant’, Marek Sadkowski, Byd-Meat CEO said. Production will be shifted there from old buildings located in the centre of Bydgoszcz.

The new plant will use ZM Kujawy brand belonging to one of Byd-Meat’s subsidiaries. Part of the products will be sold under the old brand, because Byd-Meat is very popular in the region, the rest, which will be sold nationally, under the new brand. The company wants to have PLN 100 m (EUR 25.2 m) of sales. Such results were noticed in 2002. Today, they amount to 75 percent of this amount.

The company’s troubles were connected with mistaken decision of tax authorities. Today, there is prosecutor’s investigation being led against the management of Byd-Meat because they were accused of bad management of the company’s funds.
