Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Carre Blanc, the French towel and bed-clothes distributor, which in its home market has 200 shops, plans to open 40 outlets in Poland. Today, it has nine shops in the country. ‘We want to be present in all towns with over 150,000 inhabitants. We are mainly interested in shopping-malls’, Marek Bartczak, Art du Blanc head. The company has been selling licences in Poland since 2002. The franchisers have to have PLN 200,000-250,000 (EUR 48,000-60,000) and area of 45-90 square metres.

Meanwhile, Polish Frotex, the rival of Carre Blanc, is reducing its network. In 1990ies, the company had 26 shops, which were closed in 2002. The company uses outside distribution network. ‘Articles made by Frotex may be bought in 60 gross sellers, which in turn sell our products to 500 shops in Poland’, Tomasz Borsiak, Frotex sales director said. In his opinion, Polish textile producers have difficulties because their brands are not well-known and face competition from Far East.
