Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Banks have no doubts that this year will be as good as last year. They will mainly grow thanks to individual clients.

Pengab, the banking environment index, fell 1.5 points to 38 points. The growth in individual, business and mortgage credits slowed down. Bond and investment fund market has also noted a decrease while life insurances attracted less interest.

“There are no reasons to worry. This is a seasonal slowdown, noted always at the beginning of the year”, Eugeniusz Smilowski, IBOiR Pentor CEO said.

40 percent of bank representatives expect there will be more deposits from both individual and business clients. 80 percent believe that credits will grow as well, especially mortgage and consumption credits.

“Half of the banks believe that this year will be even better than last year while 40 percent believe that it will be at least as good as 2006. The GDP growth rate and wage increase will be the most supporting elements”, Eugeniusz Smilowski explained.
