Romanian Dacia Logan, a car from Renault group, is very much wanted in Poland, first sales data prove. ‘Dealers stared sales on February 18th. Till the end of last month, 265 cars were sold’, Robert Pelczar co-ordinating Dacia sales said.

He stressed that the plans to sell 6,000 Dacias this year were still actual. This would give the new brand 2-3 market share in Poland. Poles are very interested in the new car, whose price starts at PLN 29,900 (EUR 7,565).

‘The decision to produce this model was surely done after market research of the needs in Central Europe. The start is very good but may be verified in some time’, Witold Malachowski, the representative of Volkswagen in Poland commented. Other car producers have also introduced new cheaper models in Poland. In 2004, General Motors offered Chevrolet Aveo – in June 294 such cars were sold. Volkswagen plans to launch production of cheaper Skoda Fabia, which would become Logan’s rival. Production could start in 2006.
