Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – With oil prices reaching USD 70 (EUR 57.3) a barrel, no wonder that more and more drivers are changing their cars into gas-driven. According to the data of Nafta Polska company, the 95 fuel price has risen 19.89 percent since January, while gas price has fallen 7 percent. Fuel companies, car producers and firms installing LPG in cars observe increasing demand. “We have noted that. Recently, we have installed 30-40 sets a month, now 60”, Tomasz Przybycien from Toyota Motor Poland said. “We have observed increased interest in LPG installations since March. But clients are not queuing”, Jacek Okonski, the CEO of Czakram, a company importing LPG sets added.

The problem is that drivers are afraid an excise duty could be implemented that would make gas unprofitable as fuel. “Several months ago, news was spread that there would be higher excise duty for gas used for heating. Many people feared it would also concern the gas used in cars”, Jacek Okonski stressed. Which may be true... “In my opinion, in a long-term prospective, you should stop rising duties for fuel and increase duties for gas. Price differences should not be bigger than 20-30 percent”, Jaroslaw Neneman, deputy Minister of Finance commented. Today, the fuel is twice as expensive as gas. The minister said that the new government will make proper decisions. Today’s opposition, and according to polls, future government parties, are not going to follow the suggestion. “We will rather look for savings”, Krystyna Skowronska from PO said.
