Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Enea, a state-owned energy distributor, would like to convince the Treasury that it needs fresh capital. According to Enea CEO Jerzy Gruszka, capital should be raised during the IPO, which the Treasury may postpone to Fall. ‘We would like to spend funds for our investment programme, which most important point consists in getting our own production – either building or buying a power plant’, Jerzy Gruszka explained. Unofficial sources say that Enea will take part in the tender to buy Kozienice power plant, Poland’s biggest coal plant. Offers may be submitted till April 5th. ‘I neither confirm nor deny’, Jerzy Gruszka said. The two companies are already operating jointly.

If Enea issue prospectus will be submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission in March, which is possible, there will be no chances to add the new issue. ‘That’s no problem. The company may issue shares soon after its IPO. The condition is to show a good investment programme’, Dariusz Witkowski, deputy Minister of Treasure said. Pawel Urbanski, Central Europe Trust expert, believes Enea’s plans will become more and more common. ‘Integrating distribution with production is inevitable because there are not enough investors for the two to be separated’, Pawel Urbanski commented.Poland/Enterprises/Energy
