Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Russians give new conditions before they open their meat market to Poland.

The Polish meat producers alarm that there are new problems over levying the Russian blockade introduced last year.

“After the deputy Minister of Agriculture responsible for veterinary inspections was dismissed, the process stuck. We are meeting the new Minister and try to convince him to restart talks with Russia”, Witold Choinski, the CEO of the Association of Meat Producers, Exporters and Importers said.

The last meeting held on February 27 seemed to be just formality. The Russians seemed to accept the new conditions: meat exports from Poland only via Kaliningrad and joint veterinary inspections. The Russians demanded more: they wanted the meat to be exported via only three board points and a double control on the border. Besides, Poland failed to pledge that meat certificates would not be falsified in the future.

Meat producers say that the time is good to levy the limitations. Argentina stopped its beef exports several days ago. Russia imported 190,000 tones of beef from this country.
