Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The government has prepared a bill for the quality requirements for the producers of biofuel. The document has been sent to Brussels.

The bill is a vital document for producers of biofuel. The Ministry of Economy waits for EU approval. Unless the bill is questioned, it may be implemented on May 8th 2006. The bill provides for allowing for the market biofuel with 20 percent of esters. The lack of this document specifying quality requirements made it impossible for fuel producers to sell biodiesel in Poland. The representatives of the National Chamber of Biofuel (KIB) estimate that the new law will start the development of the biobfuel market.

“In Summer 2005, the EU prepared the requirements for esters. We could end works over the law”, Marek Odyniec, a specialist in the department of energy safety in the Ministry of Economy said.

There are other factors which may influence the growth of biofuel producers.

“The European Commission suggests to introduce obligatory requirement of up to 5 percent of biocomponents in fuels. This quantity does not change the fuel”, Tadeusz Zakrzewski, KIB CEO said.
