Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Ministry of the Treasure (MSP) plans to decide about the future of telecommunication assets it controls in the middle of this year. Before the decisions are made, the ministry has ordered to stop the selling processes of telecoms.

“Until we have a strategy, you cannot change the ownership structure in these companies too quickly as it would turn out that you cannot undo the changes”, Piotr Rozwadowski, the deputy Minister of the Treasure said.

Telefonia Dialog was the first company to be affected. Three weeks ago the ministry asked KGHM copper producer, a state-owned enterprise and the owner of 100 percent of Telefonia Dialog, to stop the process of selling the operator. Exatel, which is 100 percent owning of PSE, another state-owned enterprise may be the next company to be affected. Exatel’s management and owner want the company to be listed this year. The ministry has another idea.

“We want the company to be nationalized. PSE would get energy assets instead. I will try to convince Stanislaw Dobrzanski, PSE CEO, to stop the process of Exatel’s listing”, Piotr Rozwadowski said.

MSP would also like TP Emitel, the owner of radio and TV broadcasters, to be nationalized.

The Ministry plans also to keep Polish investors in Polkomtel. Today, KGHM Polska Miedz, PSE, PKN Orlen and Weglokoks have jointly 60.78 percent of the operator of Plus GSM and Sami Swoi operator. They want to buy the stake put up for sale by Danish TDC. In the future, they would like to sell the bigger stake.

“We want the company registered and dealing in Poland to have Polish capital. Therefore, an idea has appeared to sell it to a financial investor”, Piotr Rozwadowski said.
