Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) - Grupa Lotos, Poland's second largest fuel company, considers launching a second brand for its gas stations, which today are run under the logo of Rafineria Gdanska refinery, which has ceased to exist several years ago. "The new logo would be used in 80-85 percent of those stations", Wojciech Kowalczyk, Grupa Lotos deputy CEO said. The new stations will have lower standard and probably offer lower prices.

The remaining 15-20 percent of gas stations under Rafineria Gdanska brand will be incorporated into Grupa Lotos brand, which today has 75 gas stations but plans to double the number. The fuel giant plans to have some 400 objects altogether. "The reason to have the second brand is just for marketing. The stations of higher level give the possibility to not only buy fuel but also wash the car or go shopping. The lower standard means that there are often no additional services but fuel is cheaper", Janusz Wroblewski, the head of the Polish Organisation of Oil Industry and Trade POPiHN commented.

Statoil was the first gas station operator to introduce the second brand: 1,2,3. There are 10 such stations today. PKN Orlen, Poland's biggest fuel company, has plans to launch the second brand.
