Helio delicacies distributor’s results boosted by Easter

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Poland’s leading importer and distributor of delicacies improved sales and net income thanks to  Easter holidays.

The quarter with Easter holidays is traditionally good for companies trading with delicacies. Helio increased its sales from PLN 13m to PLN 17.4m (EUR 5m). The net income grew from PLN 0.9m to PLN 1.4m. In the three quarters of its fiscal year, the company had PLN 4.7m of net income and PLN 57.27m of sales, or respectively 51 percent and 60 percent more than in the same period of 2007. The company forecasts PLN 61m of sales and PLN 3.8m of net income.

“We are very cautious with our forecasts. We probably won’t revise them before the fiscal year ends”, Leszek Wasowicz, Helio CEO said.

He estimates that the company will have a small net loss this quarter as the April-June period is the weakest in the sector.

“We are trying to compensate it by promoting delicacies as snacks. European football championships will help us”, Leszek Wasowicz added.

The company plans modernizations of its plants this quarter. Soon, it will start building a plant near Sochaczew which should launch operations before 2010.

“We will use storage houses there as early as in September”, Leszek Wasowicz added.
