Hospitals need EUR 610m for x-ray equipment

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) - All healthcare entities must have their x-ray equipment working according to EU standards till the end of next Lear. To exchange all equipment in Poland one needs EUR 610m, the Polish X-Ray Association (PLTR) estimates.

Some machines may be modernized. But according to our preliminary estimates, ove 4,000-6,000 units must be changed. We gave the cost estimates to the Ministry of Health several months ago. We counted for help. We haven?t received any reply, Andrzej Urbanik, PLTR deputy chairman said.

 In his opinion, half of x-ray laboratories will have to be closed in 2007.     

X-ray equipment is the most expensive in each hospital. An ordinary x-ray machine costs PLN 200,000 (EUR 50,200), a tomography PLN 1m. In Poland, you need 300 tomographies, Andrzej Urbanik counted.
