The economy ministry has announced a change in plan for the privatisation of the steel sector. It will no longer go ahead at the same time as consolidation of the industry. Minister Jacek Piechota has admitted to being in talks with two foreign investors seeking a stake in the Katowice, Sendzimira, Cedler and Florian works.

The ministry does not want to sell separately those mills which will be part of Polish Steel Works (PHS). Both the Indian Ispat and Euroconsortium are, according to the minister, seeking a stake in PHS.
