Investors take a rest after Tuesday dive

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Wednesday session was very calm after yesterday’s panic. The WIG20 index stayed in the narrow range of 20 points today. It closed 1.5 percent down after KGHM copper producer shed 5 percent. 30 minutes later, however, the index rebounded because the copper producer rose 2 percent.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Wednesday session was very calm after yesterday’s panic. The WIG20 index stayed in the narrow range of 20 points today. It closed 1.5 percent down after KGHM copper producer shed 5 percent. 30 minutes later, however, the index rebounded because the copper producer rose 2 percent.

The WIG20 index ended 0.65 percent up at the day’s highest level of 2,823.09. Volume of trade amounted to PLN 855m (EUR 224.9m), down from PLN 1.32 billion yesterday. It was connected to KGHM, again. Stock of the copper producer worth PLN 275m changed hands today. Yesterday, it was PLN 721m. Bioton insulin producer and Lotos fuel company rebounded while the volume of trade was quite substantial.

The highest gains were noted among small caps. Swissmed health company which is going to issue shares with rights for shareholders, jumped 65 percent after a 36 percent raise on Tuesday. Another medical company, EMC Instytut Medyczny added 40 percent after it signed an agreement with National Health Fund worth PLN 6.87m. Stocks of the following companies noted over 20 percent gains: Kompap, Polnord, Efekt, Lubawa, PC Guard and Muza.
