Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – On Friday, the supervisory
board will fire the company’s CEO.
KGHM supervisory board will decide on strategic
issues during its meeting held on December 21st. One of the points provides for
changes of the management. It was not Krzysztof Skora, the present CEO, who
applied for this point in the agenda, which would mean that the changes will
concern deputy CEOs. After his dismissal, one of the present deputy CEOs will
temporarily manage the company.
Besides, the board will discuss next year’s budget,
and plans for the years 2008-12 including investments. 2008 should be a year of
investments as 36 percent of PLN 16bn (EUR 4.4bn) of spending planned till the
year 2016, will be made this and next year. The management will present drought
of 2008-10 strategy pointing out the fields KGHM is going to invest in. The
supervisory board will also decide whether to sell Labedy steel plant owned by
KGHM subsidiary KGHM Ecoren. This case raises controversies. Members of the
board representing the employees believe the company should be left at KGHM as
it is its strategic partner.
