Leasing shares hard to sell
BDK Daewoo Leasing, which until recently was one of this countries major leasing companies featured in tenth position for leasing companies in 1999, is reported to be on its last legs with its current owners.
At the beginning of this year it changed its name to Leasing Fabryczny in order not to be linked to the ill fated Korean concern. Due to the slump in the motor market and the crisis at Daewoo, turnover dropped by forty percent last year from PLN170m to PLN105m.
It would seem that shareholders want to get out while they can. Pekao SA has been looking for a buyer for its shares for six months now and even the Koreans are believed to be making an announcement within the next three weeks on their intentions.
January was a bad month for the company with turnover twenty percent down on the same month last year.© ℗
