Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Ministry of  Education delays the deadline to submit offers in one of the biggest tenders to  deliver software. EU funds are in danger.

Comarch, Sygnity, Wasko, Talex, WSiP are among companies fighting for a contract to deliver educational software to 20,000 schools in Poland. The tender worth PLN 180m (in majority EU funds) faces new obstacles. In the eleventh hour, the Ministry of Education shifted the deadline to submit offers from September 15th till September 23rd.

“Deliveries must be realized before November 30th 2008. This is very little time. It may turn out that another delay will make it impossible to meet the deadline”, the representative of one of the companies said.

Other companies confirm and fear that the tender will be cancelled altogether.

If this happens, the ministry may have problems. Companies threat with filing suits at courts and warn that the whole program of providing computers for schools worth PLN 1.1bn faces problems. According to the provisions of the program, at least 10 percent of funds should be spent for software.
