Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Ministry of Economy has evaluated the offset agreements of Lockheed Martin (LM), the deliverer of F-16 fighters.

In the years 2003-05, offset companies should realise projects worth USD 3076.37m (EUR 2567.6m). In the period of 18.04.2003-1.10.2005, 34 projects have been approved worth USD 1959.747m, the Ministry of Economy wrote in an announcement.

Representatives of LM say that they have already made projects worth USD 2 billion and have till the end of 2006 to implement USD 3 billion of projects.

Another problem may be that half of the projects should concern civil sector and the other half – the military sector. According to the Ministry of Economy, USD 1.78 billion worth projects were conducted in the civil sector while only USD 175.14m in military one.

Lockheed Martin has introduced several replacement projects. When they are launched, they nearly immediately will generate income for the military sector, LM representatives said.

The problems with the offset agreements may be one of the topics touched during the visit of President Aleksander Kwasniewski to the USA. Business and politicians would like more projects providing for know-how sharing instead of orders for goods.
