Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The special economic zone in Lodz (LSSE), central Poland, which last year lured 14 investment projects worth PLN 1.5 billion (EUR 382.5 m), will probably be enlarged because there is not enough land for new investors who want to build their plants and centres there. One of them is French Hutchinson, which will build rubber car parts. ‘The investment is worth EUR 25 m’, Andrzej Osniecki, LSSE CEO said. 600 people will find jobs in the plant, which will be Hutchinson’s fifth plant in Poland. The company would like to start construction works this year but first, it will apply for enlarging the zone by 6 ha.

At the beginning of February, Polish government approved of laws allowing to locate Business Process Offshoring (accounting centres, call centres, etc.) in special economic zones. Investors did not wait long. ‘Two US companies and one German want to build their call-centres here. 2,000 people would be employed in the centres’, Andrzej Osniecki said.

Since the beginning of the year, LSSE has lured four investors, including Polish HTL (blood injectors), German Kampmann (heaters), and Ego (washing-machines elements), and Dutch Hapam (electricity products). Those investors will spend nearly PLN 150 m. Till the end of the first quarter, all of them will be granted permissions to operate in the zone.
