Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) Low-cost carriers transported 7.7m passengers in the third quarter, and got nearly 28 percent of the market.

This is a tremendous increase. Last year, slightly more than 10 percent of passengers flew with cheap airlines, Adam Borkowski, the spokesman of Civil Aviation Authorities (ULC) commented.

Among Poland's four largest scheduled carriers, there are four low-costs.

LOT, Poland?s flag carrier, remains the leader with 45.4 percent market share. Hungarian Wizz Air is the second in the ranking with 896,000 passengers and 11.6 percent of the market. German Lufthansa is the third, Centralwings, LOT?s low-cost subsidiary, is the fourth largest airline.
