Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The gunpowder producer from Spain is not going to invest in Serby, Lower Silesia. The company was not granted the approval to build its plant in the chosen place.

Maxam Corporation, the world’s second largest gunpowder producer, wanted to shift part of production to Poland. The company was going to build a plant in Serby, close to the headquarters of KGHM copper producer, which is one of its biggest clients. The Spaniards bought 10 ha of land and wanted to invest PLN 12m (EUR 3.1m). Construction works were supposed to be launched in the middle of the year but the company is not going to invest finally.

It turned out that the land acquired by Maxam has not plans yet. When the necessary procedure was launched, it turned out that such a project may not be located there.

“We were surprised with this decision. I cannot say today what our further plans will be. We want to find an alternative to the planned project”, Grzegorz Liberka, Maxam Polska CEO said.
