Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Polish coal mines did not work for two hours on Monday. The miners did not win much this way and are going to strike in Warsaw soon.

Yesterday, a strike was held in Polish coal mines between 6-8 a.m. The miners did not go underground. The trade unions had said about the strike before. The miners will not be paid for the time lost during the strike. The CEOs of the mines are counting their losses. Pawel Poncyljusz, the deputy Minister of Economy, repeated the government’s offer to pay out bonuses for last year’s income as of PLN 100m. There are certain conditions, however. The minister is ready to negotiate with trade unions but not under pressure. The trade unions are not going to agree. Waclaw Czerkawski, the deputy head of the Trade Union of Polish Miners does not want to talk with the deputy Minister and demands a new negotiator. He confirmed that there would be a strike in Warsaw on June 14.

“The miners in JSW had PLN 4,700 of monthly wage, in KHW PLN 4,400. I wish the doctors, nurses and teachers had similar wages”, Pawel Poncyljusz said.

In addition to the remuneration, the miners get three additional wages plus coal, food, commuting fund and funds for school equipment. Last year, JSW employees got PLN 3-4,000 of quasi dividend. In KHW it was PLN 1,000.
