Naftobazy in trouble

Following a contract signed in mid March between the Gdańsk refinery and the Swedish Preem, oil terminal Naftobazy will lose its best client. The Swedes were importing at least 10,000 tons of fuel per month.

Although Preem never used more than twenty five percent of the loading capacity of the terminal, the only client left is now BGM which imports several thousand tons of diesel per month. This situation is also unlikely to last long as BGM is likely to move its business elsewhere.

Only three years ago the terminal was loading tens of thousands of tons of fuel each month. It was unfortunate in the light of future events that PLN20m was spent on updating facilities for loading rail based liquid fuel carriers.

Privatisation of the Naftobazy companies is looking all the blacker in view of the current lack of clients although storage facilities are currently full according to Jerzy Komorowski, deputy MD of Naftobazy.
