Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Offers to buy Huta Stali Jakosciowych (HSJ) and Walcownia Blach (WB), a steel plant and flat steel plant owned by Huta Stalowa Wola group were made by nine companies. ‘We will analyse them and choose 3-4 companies, which will be invited to conduct due diligence’, Wincenty Likus, HSJ CEO said. He expect the decision to be made on June 10th.

Two Polish businessmen are fighting to buy JSJ and WB via their subsidiaries: Roman Karkosik and Przemyslaw Sztuczkowski. Zlomrex, owned by the latter placed an offer. ‘I didn’t make the offer personally – Alchemia did it’, Roman Karkosik said. Alchemia belongs to his group. The other offers were submitted by U.S. MMX, ZOHO from Warsaw, German Benteler and Bancroft, and Polish Odlewnia HSW, Carbologistic Lodz and GAB II Wtorstal.

The CEO did not reveal the price he expects to achieve. Last year, HSJ and WB had PLN 28 m (EUR 6.7 m) of net income. After four months of 2005, their net income amounted to PLN 12 m. A price of PLN 1-1.5 billion is possible, ‘PB’ sources say.
