Orbis has PLN 20 m of net loss in QI

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Orbis, Poland’s biggest hotel operator and the only tourist company in the country, noted nearly PLN 20 m (EUR 4.8 m) of net loss in the first quarter, 55 percent more than last year, when the loss amounted to PLN 12.6 m. ‘The first quarter is always the worst one. We earn in the second quarter’, Krzysztof Gerula, Orbis deputy CEO commented.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Orbis, Poland’s biggest hotel operator and the only tourist company in the country, noted nearly PLN 20 m (EUR 4.8 m) of net loss in the first quarter, 55 percent more than last year, when the loss amounted to PLN 12.6 m. ‘The first quarter is always the worst one. We earn in the second quarter’, Krzysztof Gerula, Orbis deputy CEO commented. He explained it with euro exchange rate and added that the situation had improved.

Orbis boasts of increasing the number of clients in its hotel rooms. In the first three months, consolidated sales grew nearly 8 percent to PLN 184 m. But in hotel unit, they fell by 4 percent to PLN 135 m. It was tourist services, which generated a 20-percent sales growth to PLN 25 m. Krzysztof Gerula said he couldn’t precisely say whether Orbis financial forecasts were still valid. In March, the company said its operating profit should amount to PLN 155 m.
