Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The new investor of Pekaes transport company is preparing a new strategy for the company. New people will implement these plans.

The supervisory board of Pekaes, Poland’s leading group offering logistic and transport services, fired the present board and nominated the new ones. AKJ Management is the main shareholder of Pekaes. Last year, the company bought 55 percent in the transport company.

“After the changes in the shareholders’ structure and the choice of a new supervisory board, the changes in the board were expected”, Maria Skowron-Szawranska, BM BGZ analyst commented.

AKJ wants to transform Pekaes into a company offering more complicated and profitable logistic services.

“It is hard to make money on transport services only”, Maria Skowron-Szafranska said.

She mentions the following reasons: weak euro, big competition and high gas prices. In 2005 Pekaes had PLN 24m (EUR 6.1m) of loss against PLN 36.5m of net income a year earlier. Pekaes will have a new strategy.

“It is hard to estimate Pekaes results this year. Much will depend on how quickly the company transforms. But in order to change its profile, they will need more than a couple of months. Negative elements will still be present in transportation activities”, the analyst added.
