In this period, we want to start the construction of the first phase, the 80 km long route from Wroclaw to Kalisz. The cost of the project amounts to EUR 1 billion. Kalisz is an important point. The route could divide there to Poznan and Warsaw, Tadeusz Augustowski, PKP PLK CEO said.The whole project is estimated to be worth EUR 3-4 billion. The route Wroclaw-Warsaw, which today takes nearly 5 hours, would last only 1 hour 40 minutes.EUR 3 billion is absolute minimum but it won’t be easy to provide financing. It will take about 10 years before the route is launched, Andrzej Massel from CNTK said.Tadeusz Augustowski assured that in the second phase of the project, local authorities of Dolny Slask and Lodz promised support. The last phase of the project could be financed through public-private partnership.
