Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Coca-Cola HBC Polska, the Polish unit of Coca-Cola HBC listed in Athens, and Poland’s biggest carbonated and isotonic drinks as well as ice-tea, has ambitious plans. ‘This year, we plan to increase sales of bottled water by 100 percent. Investments in production, ads, distribution and merchandising should help us. If everything goes well, we will soon become Poland’s second largest producer’, Ulrik Nehammer, Coca-Cola HBC Polska managing director said.

Since Coca-Cola acquired Multivita plant in 2003, it has invested in water production and distribution over EUR 15 m. Last year, it introduced a new brand to the market. Today, Nestle Waters Polska is the second water producer, after Danone. Analysts expect the PLN 2 billion market of bottled water will increase by further 5-15 percent this year. ‘I do not believe, Coca-Cola will outpace Nestle this year. Coca-Cola invests a lot but Nestle will not be idle, either’, an anonymous representative of the industry said.

This year, Coca-Cola HBC Polska plans to increase sales to PLN 1.2 billion (EUR 286.8 m) from PLN 1 billion last year. In 9 Central European countries, the company had EBITDA of EUR 106 m last year. In Poland, Coca-Cola has 4 plants and employs 2,800 people. It spends PLN 200 m a year for investments, commercials, distribution and training.
