Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Two ex-CEOs of Poland’s biggest oil companies may come back to one of them as the subcontractors of multi-billion investments.

Two big listed companies: Polimex-Mostostal and Energomontaz Polnoc are among the main candidates for the subcontractors in the program of complex technological development (PKRT) in Grupa Lotos, Poland’s fuel giant. The two CEOs fight for the contracts: Konrad Jaskola, today Polimex-Mostostal CEO who once headed Petrochemia Plock, now part of PKN Orlen and Wlodzimierz Dyrka, the head of Energomontaz who once managed Rafineria Gdanska, today Lotos. In fact, they may try to win these contracts together because Polimex is supposed to acquire a controlling stake in Energomontaz till the end of this quarter.
“We are very interested in this investment. We have very big experience in this kind of projects”, Konrad Jaskola assured.

Meanwhile, Lotos is getting ready to choose the main contractor of PKRT. The two players have the biggest chances: Fluor and a consortium of Uhde and Technik, both big Western European engineering companies. The main contractor should be chosen this month and approved of by the supervisory board on January 29th. The previous deadline was in the middle of December.

Lotos has not decided yet whether the subcontractors will be chosen by the main contractor or by itself. PKRT provides the building of HDS installation to increase oil production form 6m to 10m tons annually. In addition, IGCC installations will be constructed. The whole program is estimated at PLN 7 billion (EUR 1.8 billion).
