Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Yesterday, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture said that on November 10 th, meat and some meat products imports from Poland are forbidden. The Russians explain the decision with ‘more and more often cases of drastic breaking of the Russian veterinary rules and fake meat’. As ‘PB’ has learnt unofficially, the Polish veterinary authorities knew in September that meat could have been sent to Russia with a false veterinary certificate.

The prosecutor’s office was immediately informed about that, the representative of the Polish veterinary authorities said.

On November 3rd, the Polish veterinary authorities received from Russia documents, which were suspected to be false. Representatives of the Polish meat industry believe that the transport were made illegally via Lithuania .

It is really a nasty surprise to us, taking into account how big and full of opportunities the Russian market is. But you must take it easy and wait for official explanations, Jerzy Majchrzak from Sokolow, the listed meat producer with license to export to Russia .

Also the Polish meat chamber Polskie Mieso (Polish Meat) CEO is not upset.

It won’t take long, I hope. The results of the decision will not be very painful because our exports to Russia have been small recently due to foreign exchange rate, Witold Choinski, the CEO of Polskie Mieso commented.
