Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Some Polish meat producers complain that they did not know a list of companies to be visited by Korean veterinary inspectors was created. Now it is too late to be enrolled. ‘We cut meat, 1.35 thousand tonnes a week. We did not know there was such possibility and we would like to be on the list’, AJPi representative said.

‘We collected data concerning the plants in September 2004 and we closed the list in October. The visit has been postponed because Korea had no funds for it in its budget for 2004. The Korean side asked to put on the list the biggest exporters to USA an EU so that there are no problems with contracts’, Krzysztof Jazdzewski, Poland’s chief veterinary doctor said. Companies with transition period, including AJPi, were not taken into account.

There are 35 companies on the list. No more than half of them will be controlled. 12 Polish meat plants had exports licence so far. Poland sells to Korea only 2-3 thousand tonnes a year but plans to increase exports by 300 percent.
