Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – 7.5m people who have registered TV sets have already been sent the orders to pay their subscription fee.

The Polish Post (PP) is responsible for collecting the TV and radio subscription in a PLN 50m (EUR 13.7m) contract. The subscription is a payment the majority of Poles avoid thus breaking the low. On the other hand, the subscription is part of revenues of TVP, Polish state-owned public TV broadcaster.

“We have made a base of 7.5m clients who have registered TV and radio sets”, Mariusz Wnuk from PP said.

Once a year, an order to pay for the subscription will be sent to TV owners. The majority of 7.5m clients from PP base have already been sent one.

“We will be able to send reminders and fine with interest”, Mariusz Wnuk added.

The problem is that PP has no means to demand the money due if someone refuses to pay. About 2m people are lacking in the base. These are people who have never registered they had a TV.

“We have several dozens controllers. We used to ask our postmen to do it but we did not want them to lose public trust and we gave up this method”, Mariusz Wnuk added.
