Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Polish regional airports will change its ownership structure.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Polish regional airports will change its ownership structure.

Polish State Enterprise of Airports (PPL) should soon remain a minority shareholder  in regional airports. That is according to Eugeniusz Wróbel from Ministery of Transport and Building. Initially changes will concern airports in Kraków, Poznań and Szczecin, where PPL is there a majority shareholder at the moment.

In Kraków, PPL owns more than 85 percent of the airport. The shares could buy a local autonomy.

”That is the right direction, by all possibilities of takeover should be taken into account” Witold Śmiałek, vicemarshal of małopolskie  voivodship said.

The most comfortable for autonomy would be gratuitous takeover. But at the same time, regional airport urgently need money for development, so from their point of view, such a solution would change anything. In other airports there are other interested subjects.

“Autonomy has no capital for such an investment. PPL will be anyway a minority shareholder, because Agency for Military Property will enter the company with some ground”, Krzysztof Pawłowski, CEO of Poznań airport, that is in 64 percent owned by PPL, said.

But it is not the end because the ministry declared, that PPL should finally get out from regional airports.

Simultaneously PPL is the owner of 100 percent of Warsaw Airport, and airports in Zielona Góra and Rzeszów. It has declared to convert them into independent companies.

“We are ready for creating such companies at the beginning of next year”, Artur Burak, spokesman of PPL said.
