Rockwool building insulation producer plans new investments

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Rockwool, a Danish company producing building insulation materials, plans new investments in Poland. On Friday, its supervisory board decided to implement production of a new product. It refused to say, what product it meant (in Poland, Rockwool produces mineral wool). It also did not give specifics concerning the value of the investment.

Usually, to launch and implement production of a new product, you need EUR 10-25m, Jakob Sorensen, Rockwool Polska deputy CEO estimated.Rockwool Polska has already invested in Poland PLN 500m (EUR 127.5m) and employs 600 people. The company hopes for increasing market – partially thanks to EU directive for energy specifics of the buildings. In 2009, each building will have to have a certificate stating its energy use. According to Zbigniew Bachman, the director of the Polish Industrial and Trade Chamber, however, the Polish government is not ready yet to implement the directive.(PLN 1 = EUR 0.255)
