Korean carmakers have been present on the Polish market for years. SsangYong is the least popular brand, and has several times failed to win the market. Sssanyong Poland has been operating in Poland since October 2005 and managed to sell 89 cars last year. According to the data of Samar, the company monitoring the Polish car market, in the January-May period, Ssangyong sold 122 cars, or 351.9 percent more than in 2005.

“We want to sell 470 cars this year”, Stefan Kuzminski, the general director of Ssangyong Polish representative said.

In October 2005, he said that the company would sell 1,000 cars this year.

“It is because of new VAT rules which limit the number of cars allowing for full VAT refund”, Stefan Kozminski explained.

“They have chances for good sales although it may be expensive to make the brand popular in Poland”, Wojciech Drzewiecki, Samar head commented.

Ssangyong is developing its sales chain. Today it comprises 18 dealers, till the end of the year, there should be 20 of them. 17 partners of the Korean company are dealers who sold a different brand before.
