Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) Peter Spuhler, the owner and head of Stadler Rail, the railway car producer of Switzerland, announced investment plans in the Polish market. The project waits until few railway car tenders are finished. Stadler Rail has been waiting for that for two years now as its decision to build a plant in Siedlce was made in January 2004.

We want to invest EUR 6m to launch suburb train production and EUR 6m to launch production of aluminium boxes for Stadler. 300-500 people could be employed in our plant. We will start the investment if we win at least one order to deliver the cars, Peter Spuhler assured.

The company takes part in three tenders: for PKP Przewozy Regionalne, Koleje Mazowieckie and Tramwaje Warszawskie.

We estimated the Polish market demand amounts to 1,000 units which should be bought till 2015. We would like to have half of this market, Stadler?s head said.

If his company wins a tender, Stadler Polska company will be launched in the first half of 2006 and production will be started in Siedlce within next six months. In Switzerland and Germany, Stadler employs 1,400 people. This year, it plans to have CHF 600m of sales.
