Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Nafta Polska, the state agency founded to privatize the fuel and chemical sector, has its last task: it wants to build independent logistic operator.

Nafta Polska, which will soon cease to exist, plans to found an independent logistic operator NOL.

“In order to increase Poland’s energy security, we should build an integrated operator of fuel logistics who will be independent from fuel producers. This task should be done this year”, Andrzej Madera, the new CEO of Nafta Polska said.

In his opinion, one entity should merge the functions of storing and transmitting liquid fuel as well as providing free access of different companies to the infrastructure.

“This will increase the competition and enforce bigger flexibility of fuel companies”, Andrzej Madera explained.

Today, PKN Orlen is almost the sole producer of fuel pipelines.

In the first stage, the integration would comprise state-owned store-houses owned by Naftobazy and fuel pipelines of PERN. According to Nafta Polska CEO, the independent operator should stabilize the fuel market and cause lower costs of fuel storing and sending, which in turn will increase Poland’s energy security.
