Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 index closed 0.25 percent up at 3,068.59 points. 150 companies ended up, 134 ended down and 47 remained unchanged. The volume of trade amounted to PLN 1.288bn.

WIG rose 0.19 percent to 49,413.12 points. mWIG40 added 0.01 percent to 3,443.28 points. sWIG80 lost 0.02 percent to 14,645.69 points. TechWIG gained 0.69 percent to 1,023.46 points. Astarta was the best performer with 10.3 percent increase, followed by Karen (8.9 percent up), Centrostal (7.2 percent up) and 13Fortuna (6.6 percent up). Mewa was the worst performer with 11.1 percent decrease followed by Ulma (7.8 percent down), Hutmen (5.9 percent down), and Wielton (5.8 percent down).

Analysts believe the increase in Warsaw was possible thanks to positive data from the US home market. However, the macro data from the Polish market concerning unemployment rate in January (11.7 percent against 11.4 percent in December) and retail sales (20.9 percent growth against expectations as of 15.2 percent) did not influence the market.
