WIG20 loses 4.6 percent this week

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Small and middle-size companies were doing much better on Friday than the blue chips.

The WIG20 index dropped 1.65 percent to 3,253.74 points after it rebounded slightly yesterday. KGHM dragged the market down. The copper producer keeps falling along with the commodity being at the lowest level since many months. This week, KGHM has lost 12.24 percent. The WIG20 has shed 4.6 percent in the last five days. On Friday,1.5m shares of KGHM changed hands, up from 806,000 on Thursday. Shares worth PLN 265m changed hands, or 40 percent of all blue chips. Bioton was the second largest company in this respect, shares worth PLN 79m changed hands. Both companies lost 3 percent, KGHM to PLN 88.2 while the insulin producer to PLN 2.28. Only three blue chips rose, including Netia, TVN and Lotos but the volume of trade was very low.

 

MIDWIG rose 0.7 percent while shares worth PLN 333m changed hands. WIRR added 0.1 percent. Polnord jumped 9.9 percent, Lentem 6.5 percent while LPP 6.5 percent.
