WIG20 raises 2.5 percent this week

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – On Friday, the WIG20 index rose 1.4 percent and ended the week at 2,518.73 points, or 2.5 percent higher than last week. One mustn’t forget, however, that Friday was the last day of the third quarter and funds cared for high indices.

One mustn’t forget, however, that Friday was the last day of the third quarter and funds cared for high indices. The post-election week was not very good in the stock market, the volume of trade was low, especially on Thursday when shares worth only PLN 500m (EUR 127.5m) changed hands.

KGHM copper producer was the leader of the last five sessions. The company gained 9.3 percent. BZ WBK bank and Orbis travel company gained over 6 percent each. Today, Pekao and PKO BP were the engines of growth. Grupa Lotos added 2.4 percent, PKN Orlen rose 0.8 percent, similarly to TP telecom. Agora media group fell 2.9 percent, whose management will publish on Tuesday its plans concerning a new project, probably a daily for women.

Among smaller and medium-sized companies, steel products distributors and producers were advancing. Stalprofil jumped 8.5 percent, Drozapol-Profil 3.3 percent, Odlewnia 4.9 percent. Remak gained 6.4 percent on news that it will take part in construction works in Patnow II power plant for PLN 16.5m. Sanwil jumped 5 percent due to management’s decision to cancel shares issue because Sanwil will not buy a furniture producer as planned before.
