WSE: Medium companies advance, giants fall

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 fell 1.13 percent to 2,432.18 points today. Medium-sized companies did better – MIDWIG rose 0.25 percent. However, the volume of trade was not very high – blue chips worth PLN 360m (EUR 92.9m) changed hands, or 20 percent less than on Tuesday.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 fell 1.13 percent to 2,432.18 points today. Medium-sized companies did better – MIDWIG rose 0.25 percent. However, the volume of trade was not very high – blue chips worth PLN 360m (EUR 92.9m) changed hands, or 20 percent less than on Tuesday.

PKO BP, TP and Netia telecoms were dragging the index down. PKN Orlen and Grupa Lotos fuel companies fell less than the index – 0.5 percent. IT companies added, including Prokom and Softbank. Cersanit tile producer was the best performer but only 147 shares changed hands.

Among smaller and medium-sized companies, Poilgrafia and Gant jumped 13 percent each. The first company will soon withdraw from the stock market. Gant’s investors followed suit of one of big shareholders ho is increasing its engagement in the capital. Elzbieta Sjöblom has a 30.88 percent stake already.
