Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Although the beginning of the year was not particularly good to Zelmer, Poland’s listed home appliances producer, the company promises to keep to its forecasts.

Zelmer, the producer of hovers, mixers and home appliances, had PLN 9.7m (EUR 2.5m) of net income in the first quarter, or 20.5 percent more than a year earlier.

“This was a poor quarter for small home appliances”, Janusz Plocica, Zelmer CEO said.

However, Zelmer plans to increase the net income by 38.3 percent to PLN 31.8m. The management is sure the forecast will be met.

“The first quarter is not decisive in our sector. There were negative elements including hard winter and selling the stock. The last months of the year are the most important to us and we are going to get well prepared”, Stanislaw Mical, a member of the board responsible for finances said.

Zelmer’s sales in the first quarter grew 2 percent to PLN 71.2m. In the whole year, the company plans to improve them by 14 percent. Exports in the first quarter grew by record 30 percent. Zelmer has PLN 90m of cash. That’s why the company will pay out PLN 32m of dividend, or PLN 2.1 a share. This will not limit acquisitions. Negotiations are going on.
