The Warsaw stock market boldly continued its advance reaching a new record four month high yesterday.

The WIG advanced to 13,957 points, up 0.5 percent, while the WIG20 advanced 0.4 percent to 1,265 points.

The advances would have been even greater had they not been halted by profit taking. At one stage the markets were three percent up on the day.

Turnover yesterday was PLN357m confirming the increased interest in the Warsaw market in recent weeks after long periods of comparatively low trade.

Increased interest is above all being shown by pension funds and foreign investors who appear to be happy with the economic prospects for the country after long periods of uncertainty.

If one winner were to be chosen for yesterday it would be Pekao SA which hit its all time record of PLN80 although it fell to PLN76 at the end of the day but this is still a closing record for the stock.
