Bank happy with mining reform
The World Bank is happy with the progress made in reforming the Polish mining sector. Two years ago it lent USD300m at preferential rates with a further USD100m to be coming in 2003. However it warns that the five year reform programme is not the end of the road but the beginning and that at the moment of privatisation there should be no more than 100,000 people employed in the sector as compared to the 150,000 working in it today.
