Chemical muddle

The Czech Agrofert has said that it intends to make an offer to buy the Police chemical works to the north of Szczecin. The company is now negotiation with Moroccan phosphor suppliers and has said that putting back the deadline from 25 May to 4 June will give more time to work out the details.

The Czech concern however has no chance of taking part of the Kedzierzyn chemical plant which is right on its doorstep. Treasury minister Aldona Kamela-Sowinska has said that she will not negotiate with them on this matter. A few weeks ago Agrofert requested that the treasury force the company to provide it with more information before putting in a bid. Kedzierzyn refused.
